The Society for the Teaching of Marriage and Family Therapy (STMFT) is a division of COAST that provides a supportive environment for discussions about the teaching and learning of Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). STMFT is a global collaborative community of like-minded and passionate, aspiring and established, MFT Educators who seek to exchange MFT resources, best MFT teaching practices and course activities. This COAST division aims to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning, give voice to the needs of MFT Educators and create collaborations across academic institutions.

The Society for the Teaching of Marriage and Family Therapy (STMFT) was created by Dr. Sofia Georgiadou in May of 2022 as an antidote to the isolation she experienced as an early-career academic. The STMFT community and podcast serve as spaces to allow herself and all interested colleagues to share resources and bridge the way we do systemic therapy with the way we teach systemic therapy in our classrooms.
STMFT has a private Facebook group, where STMFT members and others interested in university teaching of Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) can discuss pedagogy and foster their professional development. The group is open to PhD/PsyD/DMFT students, CFT/MFT adjuncts, lecturers, assistant, associate and full professors from all over the world.
